Evaluation and treatments for reading and learning issues that work.

Ready To Read: Helping your child develop his or her reading skills quickly….

According to the United States Department of Education of the nearly 50 million school age children in the United States over 6 million receive some kind of special education services to help with subjects such as reading.  For many of these 6 million children, issues related to visual problems can and often do interfere with reading and learning.  As a child grows and develops, the fine muscle control of the eye strengthens to allow the eye to make the movement necessary for effective reading and learning.  For some children this develops more slowly, placing them at risk for eye movement related learning and reading issues.  Also, with the advent of computers in the work place environment more and more adults are developing eye strain issues.  The Ready To Read program is designed to address these issues via comprehensive evaluation and treatment.

Does your child struggle with the follow?
Frequent losing of place while reading
Frequently avoiding close work
Holding reading material closer than usual
Frequently rubbing eyes
Complaining of headaches
Turning or tilting head to use one eye only

Assessing your child’s reading skills and addressing reading related issues is a multidisciplinary task.  The Ready To Read program partners with Georgetown Eye Associates and Dr. Robert Huizenga (http://www.huizeyes.com) for comprehensive eye care evaluation and neuropsychological evaluation to provide the best evaluation and intervention for your child’s reading and learning issues.  In addition to using neuropsychological testing (detailed below), the Ready To Read program in conjunction with Georgetown Eye Associates is able to set up the Home Vision Therapy System in your home to strengthen your child’s eye muscle movement and improve his or her reading skills.  Learn more about the intervention computer program here: http://homevisiontherapy.com/what_is_hts.htm
